Lighthouse
02:36
|

I’m so real, girl
I’m so real
And I’ll rise up another layer
Every time they seem to peel it down
Can't you feel this pearl
Can't you feel?
It will wise up another prayer
And a rhyme so that you never drown
Time to swim now
And to dive
And though that deep is hairy
Dark and scary
It will bring you life
If our orbits don’t align
Then I will hold you deep within my heart
Like chemicals that bind
All I mean to say
Is that I carry you with me most every day
And I know you
You wanna see
All of our friends around a fire
With the gumption and the grace to be free
And all in time we will come around
And it will seem like we are seventeen-
But maybe not so many ups and downs
Time to swim now
And to dive
And though that deep is hairy
Dark and scary
It will bring you life
If our orbits don’t align
Then I will hold you deep within my heart
Like chemicals that bind
All I mean to say
Is that I carry you with me most every day
Lonely lighthouse on the land
She spins in circles shining out her light
And waiting to extend a friend a hand
There’s not a sailor who doesn't spy
That glowing goodness in your solar system
Darling you don’t even have to try
Promise me, trust the tide when it goes
It will return to you, a bringing new life
Poetry and prose
And if the moon falls from the sky
Then we can fish it out from running waters
Hang it up to dry
All you need to know
Is I’ll return to you no matter where I go

Radical Gratitude
04:19
|
|||
The moment I laid eyes on you
Textbook closed, we’re in tune
And I could hardly leave the room
When your boombox starts to boom
We could laugh the night away
Blow off class the following day
Remember how to disobey
Darling, do you recall all that it saved?
Life was lonely, long and loud
Drowning in the academy and in the crowd
We laced re-membering into dance
Heart showed up and showed us a fighting chance
Radical gratitude down from our boots
Gave rise to love infused fruits
I’ll stick through stems and leaves and shoots
To search for those seeds of truth
And with the shame we’d cast aside
Our loneliness no longer wanted to hide
You held me in silence and I cried and cried
Until this heart was open wide
Radical gratitude down from our boots
Gave rise to love infused fruits
I’ll stick through stems and leaves and shoots
To search for those seeds of truth
Altough you stole my bottle of wine
You showed me Shaka’s battle design
You spoke of Hathor and of cattle, divine
Pointed out how stars align
Radical gratitude down from our boots
Gave rise to love infused fruits
I’ll stick through stems and leaves and shoots
To search for those seeds of truth
Then it was time to let you go
The ancestors came and told us so
We’ll reunite with tales in tow
We’ll never die- I know you know
Radical gratitude down from our boots
Gave rise to love infused fruits
I’ll stick through stems and leaves and shoots
To search for those seeds of truth

Statues
03:29
|
|||
I stepped up in autumn
When everything glows
Discovered my first fear
Confronted my foes
And all of that dancing
Too brilliant to see
I sliced up my knuckle
And fled from the scene
Now see us in winter
With skeleton trees
Those wonderful mornings
Brought me to my knees
And all of the sadness
That weighed my heart down
Was suddenly heavy
So I let it drown
Now come round the springtime
With shakes in my bones
and all of this lightness
That used to be stone
But where are the statues
That I used to see
They’ve all come to life and
The last one was me
But how do you tell those
Who have everything?
How do I show them
The rite of this spring?
I guess I could sing
I stepped down in Summer
To bathe in the streams
The water was cool and cold
And all of my dreams
Had burst at the seams
Again in the autumn
I open a door
To unleash my nature
To run toward the roar

Run Toward the Roar
04:19
|
|||
And when the lion roars my dear
Do you fall in line with forces of fear?
Falling prey to the pride lurking near
Or will you go through, heed the call that you hear?
Visions of elders
Dreams of youth
Carry paradise, paradox, and truth
In my old mind
Your wails have no use
A lyre won’t sing a stone into a spruce
And old Aletheia, she cannot fail
Though holy terror has you panicked and pale
‘Isms’ that promise salvation are stale
All this revealing is wind in a sail
Visions of elders
Dreams of youth
Carry paradise, paradox, and truth
In my old mind
Your wails have no use
A lyre won’t sing a stone into a spruce
This sacred prototype holds my mind
There’s nothing new, nothing elsewhere to find
I once shot you down, when your love, it reminded me:
Perhaps I could risk to fail to feel ties that bind
Visions of elders
Dreams of youth
Carry paradise, paradox, and truth
In my old mind
Your wails have no use
A lyre won’t sing a stone into a spruce

Call Me
02:48
|
|||
Call me anytime you’ve got a ghost
And I’ll know to hold your heart close
To my own
How I never thought that you’d pick up the phone
But you laughed through the wires
said girl you’re not alone
So call me anytime you feel
More feelings than you’ve felt in years
And need someone to hear your tears and boasts
Your fears and hopes
And all this change we couldn’t buy or sell
But time will tell
What grows when you are wishing well
The strange arrangements
Of tapestries and past agreements
Growing loves
And glowing grievances
Call me anytime you wanna know
How I care for you
And how you help me grow
Often reason rhymes with the
Path of ease and pleasantries
In every season times
And all this change we couldn’t buy or sell
But time will tell
What grows when you are wishing well
The strange arrangements
Of tapestries and past agreements
Growing loves
And glowing grievances
Call me anytime you’ve got a ghost
And I’ll know to hold your heart close

Spinner
03:50
|
|||
The spinner’s inflection
A thousand reflections
Constitute the truth
But all that indention
And all of this tension
Make me wing from root
Tonight the skylark is nestled by the bear
This night her honey was wrestled, unaware
These timeless days of every kind
Build monoliths within my mind
Without paying due attention to
What I’m supposed to do
Set out into that restless night
Find playmates who reflect the light
Together we
Find ecstasy
My body resonates rightly with the sound
Of all the grandmothers voices underground
Saying there’s a song he cannot break
A sturdiness he cannot shake
Inside of you
I've seen it, too
I know you're afraid
But just keep integrating
Breathing, too
It’s coming on fast
But we don't have to master
Something new
Cause we’ve been through the fall before
In the past
And this is not the first regress
Nor the last
Saying there’s a beat, a silent gun
A rhythm that he can’t outrun
Its brave and true
Its violent too
Early in the journey
As a diamond in the rough
My own emerges clearly
As I cut away the fluff
So cast your night eyes on the green-garmented earth
She stirs her pot as dog tears up her lifetime’s worth
But great grandmother doesn’t budge
The youngins need her mending love
She’s seen it all
She knows the fall

Candy Dream
03:08
|
|||
The candy in the cart is overflowing now
A gift of no borders
I ran away from all the stones you’re throwing how
I've learned to love order
And how I ran
Now I give thanks I can
And everyday you find another job to do
Hey Sisyphus! I’m blue
I spun around a tryin’ to place the blame about
But I simply miss you
And how we grow
Up from the undertow
And when the lines were cut communication reigned
Although my voice was strained
The ground I found below me- I began to sing
I held both queen and king
Now land, increase
I've felt something release
The lyre keeps a spinning where the statues sit
There is no shame in shit
So shall we dance the night away in reveille
Before I have to split?
We’ll walk, walk, walk, walk
Walk, walk, walk, walk
We’ll walk, walk, walk, Walk
I’ll walk, walk, walk, walk
I’ll walk, walk, walk
To the shore
Yes, I’ve been here
before
